Straits Quays, Penang, parking charge change, June 1st, 2013

Not the most exciting of news, but in case you’re interested.

As of June 1st, only the first 30 minutes parking are free, and thereafter there is a flat charge of RM1 for the rest of the day.

When SQ first opened, parking was free.  After quite a while they, from memory, started giving only the first hour of parking free, and thereafter it was RM1 for the rest of the day. And now the free parking period has decreased.

  1. what surprised me is there are still shopping malls that have free parking. haha. and to keep it Rm1 for the rest of the time, i am sure others living in other cities must drool at the thought. unlimited parking for Rm1!!!

    1. The three Tesco’s in Penang have free parking, for as long as you like. Gurney Plaza and Queensbay Mall charge RM1 for up to three hours on weekdays, more on weekends. Paying more than RM1 for parking here seems outrageous, and I think twice before doing so. And Penang doesn’t have so much free land, so I suppose it is surprising.
