Builders often use light weight bricks, and mostly rightly so, I imagine. However, I used a spare one to weigh something down, and that was not a good idea.
A few nights ago there was a big storm, with the wind direct from the east – which is unusual for a big storm – and the aforementioned lightweight brick was washed by the heavy flow of water to a drain, which is subsequently almost entirely blocked, causing water to come in from our ceiling for the first time ever, instead of simply flowing down the downpipe, as usual.
I am now using a normal brick as a weight.
And the rain and coolness continues…
