a nice little George Town cafe

Almost opposite St George’s church on Masjid Kapitan Keling in George Town one can find the Cafe Little Angel.

When it’s hard to park your car on the street, the only spot available is often right in front of it – because any car parked there will be bathed in oil from the cafe’s extractor fan.

But anyway, it’s inexpensive with a friendly staff, and tasty food.

Touch Veggie Delight – vegetarian restaurant

I dined here much earlier in the year, but am finally writing about it.

While I don’t understand the concept of eating “vegetarian chicken” – as you may just as well eat chicken, or recognise you are eating soy, they have plenty of dishes that don’t pretend to be something other than what they are.  I saw an advertisement that states that there is no MSG, and I am pleased about this and that awareness of the toxicity of MSG is spreading.

It’s bright and clean inside.  I went with a group, and we all enjoyed our food.

Magnificent Macedonia – Balkans trip anecdotes and photos

This blog mainly concentrates on providing information that will help in living or travelling in Malaysia.  However, I do blog a little about trips abroad.  On my recent trip to the Balkans I’ll do a series of short blogs providing one anecdote per country, and then a few assorted photos of the country unrelated to the anecdote.

The last post in this series.

Macedonia was surprising – so many statues, monuments, and, apart from the trains, modern and functional.

Pie Harbour Gurney Plaza – pie in Penang

I first noticed Pie Harbour in Queensbay Mall probably over three years ago.  I enjoyed my pie there.  Then I noticed them in Gurney Paragon, but I don’t actually go there much.  And earlier this year I saw they were coming to the Gurney Plaza alfresco area.  They opened quite a while ago, and I finally got around to eating there on Friday.

I noticed that they were quite busy, and all the outside tables were taken. I sat inside, and soon inside was quite full, too.  The staff were friendly, the food good, but the service slow – possibly because they were so busy. The WiFi was fast.  I was there for breakfast when you are served unlimited amounts of coffee – which was also good.

In the end I didn’t have a pie, but I will be back sometime to have one.  It’s a pity, though, they don’t serve beer.  A beer and pie is really nice.  A few photos…

G Hotel lunch deal

Eating out for lunch tends to be a better deal than at dinner.  And it gives you more time to digest, so I tend to think it’s less likely to put on weight.

G Hotel’s buffet lunch  seems a reasonable deal.  The third person is free.  Or if you are over 60 the price is RM55 rather than RM91.  Here is their brochure.
