A short update on what is happening in the garden this month:
The rain continues, but perhaps is becoming less frequent. It’s been a cool month, with less sunshine than usual. So I waited until it was nominally sunny to take photos – a bit of a long wait. And so for yet another mont there is not much to report.
mini pumpkins are still growing – but not so many
passion fruit – about 50 on the vines, but they aren’t really ripening as there is almost no sun
limes are still growing – after rain they often flower
mock orange sprouting tiny leaves – not much flowering this month
Cana lily doing well, as usual. I repotted from one pot to two quite a while ago, and at that time I had up to 14 stalks flowering or growing up at one time. After repotting there were only about eight. But now they are about 16 over both pots, so they have been developing well.
lime trees OK – the passion fruit vines have become intertwined with the largest and so now I can;t move it until maybe February when the passion fruit will be resting and I can prune.

four years I have been trying to grow papaya on this waste land – and these ones just died – I am giving up, as no matter what I do they don’t survive here. In those four years they have died from floods, from mealy bugs, from being hit by lorries…

ginger poker – sprouts – eat as is, or put in salads – before you do put them down on the bench a bit, because ants hide inside and will then come out – unless you want to eat ants.
